Eddie’s Early Bird is a horse racing tipster service which is currently being offered through the Punthub stable of tipsters. It claims to provide easy bets which can produce a decent profit.
What does Eddie’s Early Bird offer?
The early bird gets the worm so the old saying goes, and it would appear that this is key to the success of Eddie’s Early Bird. I am forced to say appear because rather unfortunately, PuntHub say very little about any of their services which makes it drier than a stale Ryvita.
This data-centric focus does help out when comparing my experiences with historic data, but it does not make for a particularly engaging read. None the less, there is still a lot to be said so let’s get stuck in and see whether or not Ediie has earned his place at the PuntHub table.
The basics of Eddie’s Early Bird are exactly what you would expect. It is a daily horse racing tipster service which issues selections to subscribers directly via email.
What exactly is Eddie’s Early Bird by Punthub?
As the name implies, getting on bets early is a big part of following Eddie’s selections and so these are sent out either the night before a race or very early on. This has a two fold positive effect. The first is that you can very quickly get on with your day once the bets have been placed, and you will generally get a better price (I will come back to this point later).
All bets are advised as win or each way although it is fair to say that you will see more of the former than the latter. There is no pattern to the odds that you are betting on although it is fair to say that they tend to be on the long side.
I have a random sample of the proofing open in another window and I can see 25/1 odds followed immediately by 3/2, as it happens within the same day. Fortunately, the volume of bets doesn’t appear to ever end up being too high.
This kind of betting can prove expensive without a decent staking plan however there is one in place for Eddie’s Early Bird. Each win bet should be backed to 1 point whilst each way bets are backed 1 point each way (making for a total of two points). Whilst this is a very simple staking plan, it has also proved successful enough to date.
Rather unfortunately, PuntHub do not provide any strike rate for Eddie’s Early Bird however I have taken the liberty of carrying out some calculations.
Whilst I would no doubt consider this figure to be definitive, a strike rate of around 30-35% seems to be about right. Even at the bottom end of this number, given the odds that are involved, I think that Eddie’s Early Bird is very well positioned to produce a long term profit.
How does Eddie’s Early Bird Work?
I am somebody who very much likes to understand what I am buying into when it comes to any betting related service. Anybody who tells you that luck does not play at least a small factor in gambling is likely trying to pull the wool over your eyes, and it is because of this I like to know that a tipster knows their stuff.
I have seen too many tipster services do well for a few months, only to collapse later. Put bluntly, they appear to have got lucky. Unfortunately, PuntHub provides no information whatsoever about Eddie’s selection process.
I should point out that there is some information that can be extrapolated from the data but it is basic at best. Essentially, as with many tipster services which favour longer odds, Eddie’s Early Bird tries to balance out large losing streak with well placed each way bets.
The idea is that longer odds do not need to win to keep your betting bank afloat, and when a big win happens it massively boosts the profits. Combining this with 6 months of proofing does go some way to accommodating the lack of information, but I would still have liked to have seen something.
What is the initial investment?
Punthub have just two options if you want to sign up for Eddie’s Early Bird, neither of which I would consider to be cheap. The first of these is a monthly subscription which is priced at £35 per month. Alternatively you can sign up on a quarterly basis and pay £85 every 3 months.
This does of course represent better value, however it is still quite costly. It is worth pointing out that at the time of writing, you are able to get your first month for half price (£17.50) however there is nothing to say whether this is a limited time offer.
It is also worth noting that there is no money back guarantee in place for Eddie’s Early Bird although this is typical for most tipster services.
What is the rate of return?
The last time that the full proofing was updated for Eddie’s Early Bird, it shows an overall profit of 118.8 points. Given the low stakes that are involved, I am rather inclined to consider this a positive result. Slightly more impressive sounding is the ROI for the service which is 19.57%. which over 9 months (give or take) is a solid looking result.
Conclusion on Eddie’s Early Bird?
There isn’t really a whole lot left to say about Eddie’s Early Bird as far as I am concerned. PuntHub do not give a lot to go off leaving the service to do the talking itself. I think that it is very fair to say that it delivers here.
I am sat looking at a blinking cursor as I write this trying to find a way to make this more engaging but I cannot. Eddie’s Early Bird is a good horse racing tipster service.
If I am honest, I may even be inclined to go a little bit further than that and say it is potentially a great one. There is a strong profit, reasonable and well managed risk and there is no getting round the fact that given the nature of the bets involved, Eddie’s Early Bird has a good looking strike rate.
Even when you look at the months where the service has lost money, it is never a substantial amount.
To put it into some kind of context, if a different tipster stable were managing Eddie’s Early Bird, I believe that you would be talking about profits of 600 points in 9 months rather than 118.
PuntHub however have been grounded and fair when talking about Eddie’s Early Bird and this no nonsense approach has apparently seeped into the service itself. With this in mind, Eddie’s Early Bird is well worth your consideration.
