CJ Racing is a horse racing tipster service that is currently being offered through Pro Betting Club. The service has been operational for almost a year now and shows some real potential.
Introduction to CJ Racing
Pro Betting Club are notorious for providing very little information on their services and it comes as no surprise that the same applies when it comes to CJ Racing. There is very little to jump on as they have a very professional and no nonsense approach to marketing. The numbers do the talking and if you don’t like the numbers then chances are that you won’t like the service. It is that simple.
What does stand out however are just one or two flourishes with the most important being a long term approach to profit. In the case of CJ Racing, there are some very interesting numbers that rear their heads including a high strike rate and a potentially quite high volume of bets. There is actualy quite a lot to unpack here so I want to get straight to business and see whether or not CJ Racing can deliver on the rather lofty ideals that it tries to sell.
What Does CJ Racing Offer?
At its core, CJ Racing is a daily horse racing tipster service. It is a pretty typical example of one at that as well. Each morning, once tips have been calculated, they are sent out directly to subscribers. They are also uploaded to a member’s area on the Pro Betting Club website which means that access to tips is available anywhere where you have an internet connection. It is worth noting that the CJ Racing team do say that you are best trying to back selections with any BOG bookmaker.
Moving onto the bets themselves, whilst I wouldn’t say that CJ Racing is particularly high volume in the grand scheme of things, it is consistent. In the sales material for the service, Pro Betting Club say that the aim is for 4 or 5 selections to be advised per day. This is supposedly so that punters can be more involved on a daily basis. This does however mean a low of 100 tips in a month, still more than 3 per day. All tips are advised as straight win bets on a variety of odds. The majority however are between 1.50 and 10.00.
Here are the results and profits claimed on the CJ Racing website offer:
We will talk about pricing a little later.
In terms of the staking plan for CJ Racing, simplicity is very much the name of the game here. The proofing that Pro Betting Club place is all to 1 point per bet. This is probably for the best for two reasons. First of all, there is the volume of bets.
The numbers don’t seem high and to level stakes, they are manageable. At higher stakes though this could easily backfire. Second of all, the betting bank is recommended at just 40 points. This is a very low number in the grand scheme of things and clearly highlights the faith that the CJ Racing team have in their strike rate.
This brings me into the final thing and one of the main selling points for the service. Pro Betting Club are ultimately marketing CJ Racing on the back of a 40-45% strike rate. This currently stands at 40.31% which is well within the parameters. Given average odds of 3.37, this means that CJ Racing works out profitable on paper (as well as in practice, as I will get to).
How Does CJ Racing Work?
We aren’t really told anything by Pro Betting Club about how CJ Racing works. As I have expressed before now, this is a huge disappointment. I don’t ever expect a tipster to give away their system, but I do think that you should be able to make an informed decision about your purchase. The fact that CJ Racing has been proofed to Pro Betting Club for as long as it has does go some way to mitigating this lack of information.
It is by no means a replacement however and I feel that the margins for CJ Racing are quite narrow. This makes it all the more important that you are able to understand the process and what to expect.
What is the Initial Investment?
Pro Betting Club have just two options if you want to subscribe to CJ Racing. The first of these is a monthly subscription which is priced at £39.50 per month. Alternatively, there is better value to be had signing up for CJ Racing on a quarterly basis. This means paying out £89.50 for 3 months of access, a saving of £29 on the monthly rates. It is worth pointing out that neither of these options come with any form of money back guarantee.
What is the Rate of Return?
One of the key selling points for CJ Racing is the aim to produce an average annual profit of 150 points. At the time of writing, CJ Racing have bettered this with plenty of time to spare with a profit of 154 points.
The bank growth has generally been pretty consistent getting above 170 points in places. This suggests that the rolling 12 month period will certainly end with higher profits than this. What is interesting when looking at thins number however is that the ROI stands at just 12.08%. This isn’t a terrible number by any stretch of the imagination, but I have seen a lot higher than this as well.
Conclusion to CJ Racing
I have looked at a number of services recently whereby I have been forced to conclude that despite doing nothing wrong, they simply aren’t competitive in the wider market and it looks like CJ Racing is going to be the same.
To be honest, I can’t think of a single foot that has been placed wrong here. There is a respectable profit in place, the strike rate is consistent and what I have seen so far suggests that CJ Racing is pretty low risk (although you mustn’t forget that there have been 3 losing months). All of these are positives.
Furthermore, I am going to build off the back of this and say that if you are content with these traits then CJ Racing should suit you reasonably well. I like to think however that I hold services to a higher standard and this is where the problems arise. The first thing is value for money. Even at £90 per quarter you are paying out £30 per month. Whilst this isn’t too expensive, there is definitely better value.
The overall profit potential also seems to be somewhat limited having never got above 175 points. Of course this can turn around, but I don’t think CJ Racing will ever make as much money as some other services either. It isn’t even like you can really recommend CJ Racing on the grounds of consistency. 3 losing months in 10 months of tipping is pretty far from consistency. All of this is made the more frustrating because there is so much to like.
This brings me to my final thoughts with CJ Racing.
The focus is on a lack of risk and generally playing things safe. This is not a bad thing and clearly it is working in terms of what it does. But I do feel like the broader market has much more to offer than CJ Racing. For some people, this will likely be exactly what they are looking for. Never betting too much money, never really losing and a little bit of extra cash on the side.
For those people, what Pro Betting Club is offering is spot on. I just think that for the money, and with a little bit more risk, your money could do so much more for you.
