Gambles Landed is a new to market horse racing tipster service that is being offered through the Bet Social platform. The service has supposedly produced some very substantial and consistent performances.
Introduction to Gambles Landed
It is very rare in the space of professional betting that the concept of gambling is ever referred to. There are a lot of reasons why, but I think most of it boils down to marketing. But all betting is gambling. No matter how informed you are, there is always an element of risk involved somewhere. There is rarely such a thing as a dead cert. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t make money either. In fact, plenty of people do. And whilst there are various ways of doing this, I always boil them down to the same thing. Knowing more than the bookies.
There are a lot of different ways that this can manifest itself though. Sometimes, a tipster might pick something niche and dedicate themselves to it. The fact is that if you follow Ladies Hungarian Handball religiously. You’re going to have a better idea of what’s what than an odds compiler and a bit of software. The way that most people think of though is the same way Gambles Landed does it. That is to lean into inside information. At least, so Bet Social claim. But it makes perfect sense. Nobody knows more about a horse than the trainer, right?
The problem with inside information is that every man and his dog seems to have somebody on the inside. I can honestly say though that if I had a quid for every tipster that genuinely had this… I reckon I’d probably have less than £100. Which for how long I’ve been doing this isn’t a great track record. The big question here though is simple. Can Gambles Landed actually deliver this? Have Bet Social actually got that man on the inside, or is it just another tenuous claim to sell a service? Let’s dive in and see.
What Does Gambles Landed Offer?
When you look at Gambles Landed, on the surface of things, it seems to be a pretty straightforward tipster service. And of course, as I am fond of saying, simplicity doesn’t have to be a bad thing. But here’s the thing. When you start to scratch the surface of all of this, you realise that perhaps everything here isn’t quite as it seems to be.
You see, what you are basically getting into here is a near daily horse racing tipster service. And even then, the days off are few and far between. And this has been the case for the full year of Bet Social proofing Gambles Landed. There is no arguing that the tipster behind this works bloody hard.
But that does mean some things for you if you’re considering following. First things first, you are looking at the business end of an average of 10 bets per day through Gambles Landed. This is incredibly high volume stuff. It also carries some incredibly heavy implications down the road, as I will explore later.
Before I get hung up on the bets though, let’s talk about how Bet Social manage the service. As you’d expect from a modern tipster service, selections are sent out directly via email. These land the nigh before racing giving you a decent amount of time to get bets on, but that is really a necessity. Especially if you want to try and get the most out of Gambles Landed.
And that is something that you will want to do. I know that I almost always talk about using an odds comparison site. But here it is more important than with most services. Because the difference between backing Gambles Landed to BOG and SP is a difference of over 1,500 points. There is a hell of a lot that can go wrong here and if you aren’t trying to avoid that with every single bet, it will bite you in the long term.
It isn’t even like average odds differ that much (except to BSP where they are inexplicably 43.41, despite it barely scraping a profit). But it really shows to me how you have to act fast with Gambles Landed. And with an average of about 10 bets per day, but potentially as many as 20, that is a hell of a lot.
The only thing that I can say is at least an unequivocal positive is that the tipster behind Gambles Landed has the sense to back bets on an each way basis where there are longer odds involved. Unfortunately, I should also highlight that this happened only about 1% of the time with Bet Social showing very few recent examples.
Adding to all of this as a potential cause for concern, let’s talk about the stakes. Most of the bets for Gambles Landed are proofed at 4 or 5 points per bet. Bet Social show the latter as the most common by a comfortable margin. All of it ultimately averages out to a stake of about 3.95 points, but for posterity, I will say 4.
That means that on those busy days you are facing a potential drawdown of 80 points. In a single day. Now, credit where credit is due. Bet Social also show that Gambles Landed has a quite high strike rate (something that I want to pick up a little later), but that potential is still there. In very real terms, and without looking too hard at all, it is possible to find periods of drawdown that exceed 50 points.
Obviously, this is all manageable. With a decent sized betting bank, you can be positioned to absorb that. But it is hard to ignore that possibility. Especially if you start to find that you aren’t getting the selections on at the best price. Honestly, all of this entanglement means that whilst Gambles Landed is theoretically simple, it actually ends up being quite a complicated creature.
On top of that, you might look at the strike rate for the service and see that as a positive. After all, Bet Social show that Gambles Landed has attained an average of about 40%. Over a year that is one hell of an impressive result. Unfortunately, when you look at the average odds of 3.07 (to BOG), you realise how razor sharp the margins on this actually are.
How Does Gambles Landed Work?
Probably the main selling point of Gambles Landed is that there are elements involved that make use of inside information. This isn’t some flippant throwaway comment either. They go into a lot of detail about how the tipster behind the service got into horse racing. About how their betting career unfolded, and how they have developed themselves and their approach. And a big part of that is friends they have met along the way.
The thing is, Bet Social make mention of the tipster getting texts about horses that have been looking good, performing well, etc. I am inclined to believe this. But the interesting thing is that the selections that are advised through Gambles Landed also seem to be at odds with this. So how does that work? Well, the tipster says that they “began going racing at Nottingham and Southwell practically every fixture providing I had the day off from work and soon started building contacts within a few racing stables”.
Now, I know that horses race all over the UK, but it is interesting to me that only about 150 bets were tipped for Nottingham or Southwell. This disparity isn’t looked at and Bet Social are tight lipped about any selection process for Gambles Landed beyond this. It is all quite concerning stuff, although, I will also concede that the strike rate suggests to me that the tipster behind this knows some stuff one way or another.
Whilst it isn’t really a description of how Gambles Landed works, it is at least noteworthy that Bet Social provide some very comprehensive proofing. This allows you to get some idea of what you will bet getting yourself into. I will say however that it is quite overwhelming. Even with decent formatting, there is a lot of data to have to trawl through.
What is the Initial Investment?
want to sign up to Gambles Landed then there are four different options available, all of which vary drastically in terms of both the costs, and the value that can be had. The cheapest option is actually a weekly subscription. At just £14 per week, this is very low outlay, but pricey in the longer term.
Representing considerably better value than this is a monthly subscription. This is priced at £42 per month. The real step up in value comes from a quarterly subscription though. Bet Social are asking £84 per quarter for this option, effectively giving you a free month. At the time of writing, there is also an offer on this too that gives you your first 3 months for just £43.
The best value for Gambles Landed, by quite a considerable margin though, is a 6 month subscription. This is available for a one time payment of just £87. Whilst that is a considerably cheaper option long term, it is hard to ignore that it does mean the largest initial outlay too.
It is worth keeping in mind that Bet Social don’t actually offer any sort of money back guarantee or refund on their products and services. This of course applies to Gambles Landed as well. As such, whilst there is substantially better value to be had in those longer subscriptions, you are very much tied down if you aren’t happy with them.
What is the Rate of Return?
Over the last 13 months or so, if you’d followed Gambles Landed to BOG, you’d be up 989 points. That is bloody impressive at first glance. But then it becomes time to put those numbers into context, and somewhat inevitably, they get knocked down a bit. First of all, those average stakes drive up the results a lot. To 1 point stakes, Bet Social’s own proofing shows that you’d be looking at closer to 250 points. Still impressive mind. But much less so.
The thing is, you have to do a huge amount of betting in order to see that result. Something that the ROI for Gambles Landed reflects at just 6.86%. Now don’t get me wrong, that isn’t terrible. But there are definitely better performing services out there in terms of that particular metric.
And then there is the elephant in the room. If you were following Gambles Landed but could only get SP, you’d be close to 600 points in the red. That is massive turnaround in the results and shows that whilst there is very clear profit potential here, you have to go about it a very certain way.
Conclusion for Gambles Landed
Look, fair play to the tipster behind Gambles Landed. He’s turned a profit over a year. There are a lot of tipsters out there who mightn’t be able to say the same thing. But I think there are very valid questions about whether or not that profit is really enough given the work that you have to put into it.
You see, if you’re a professional bettor with all the time in the world, a massive betting bank, and the inclination to cycle through 20 bets and get BOG on them… well, Gambles Landed might not look too bad. But if you’re not that kind of person, this is going to be a hell of a big ask for you. And that is how I generally view a lot of products that I look at.
If you’re the kind of person who does the 9-5 grind, having to muck about on Oddschecker at night might not be your idea of fun. And then potentially having to put down £800 on that… it can be a lot. Don’t get me wrong, if you’re comfortable with doing that, then Gambles Landed is really worth some consideration. I do believe that Bet Social have got the real deal here.
A big part of this is the consistency. Putting aside for a moment all of the considerations that you have to make in order for Gambles Landed to work, there has been one losing month in 14. And whilst it looks pretty big at 27.56 points, that is framed by a 56.3 point profitable month, and a 108.56 point profitable month. This is a service that does big numbers on the regular.
There is appeal in that. And once again highlighting the part about putting aside considerations, Bet Social aren’t even asking that much for this. £87 for 6 months isn’t a huge amount to pay for a tipster service. Especially not one with the historic results that Gambles Landed has.
And yet despite all of this. I’m not certain that I would look to recommend Gambles Landed. This is a great service. You get a huge amount for your money. But you have to work for it. Dedication is key. Discipline and a huge amount of financial willpower are needed to see this out. Most people aren’t about that. To be clear, that isn’t a criticism if you can’t keep up with that. I don’t think I would want to.
The fact is that for most people, this is simply not a particularly manageable service. For others, it is. Bet Social know who they are marketing this at, and that is the kind of people who want to take their betting full time. Personally, I can think of better options if you’re looking to do that. But I will also concede that the last year has shown that Gambles Landed can still help you achieve this. If you can keep up with it.
