Gareth Owen Racing Review

Gareth Owen Racing is a horse racing tipster service provided by an ex-Jockey Agent, the eponymous Gareth Owen. The service is provided through the Betfan group.

What does the product offer?

Gareth Owen Racing is a part of the newest wave of Betfan tipster services. In this case it is a near daily service (there are some days when it would seem that Gareth Owen is unable to source selections). Selections are sent out directly to users email before the days racing. The number of bets per day is rather varied as is the staking. Gareth Owen Racing uses a 1 to 5 points staking system with Gareth Owen recommending higher stakes based on his certainty. To date Gareth Owen Racing has produced an average strike rate of 41% which is respectable enough. So far there have been no losing months however April is looking a little dogged at the time of writing.

How does Gareth Owen Racing work?

As touched upon Gareth Owen was an agent for a number of jockeys and for all intents and purposes, he was pretty successful in that enterprise. Naturally this means that he has a number of contacts “in the business” as it were saying that he speaks to “numerous connected people” and that he’s learned who to listen to and who not to listen to. Something that is incorporated into the selection process for Gareth Owen Racing. On top of this, there is also a piece of “unique racing form software” that Gareth Owen developed as a way to identify the best rides for his jockeys.

What is the initial investment?

Gareth Owen Racing is subscription based with Betfan offering a 28 day subscription and a 90 day subscription. These are available at a cost of £49 and £98 respectively. There isn’t really any money back guarantee in place unfortunately with Betfan stating that whilst they do review requests, refunds are not typically given.

What is the rate of return?

Betfan launched Gareth Owen Racing in January of this year and since that time it has made a profit of 174.83 points of profit which is a respectable enough amount. It is worth keeping in mind however that this is based on mixed stakes and in a sample month the majority were 3 or 4 points.

Conclusion Gareth Owen Racing

There is no doubting the credentials of Gareth Owen and it is nice to see Betfan offering a verifiable personality as a tipster. That having been said one must now look at the service which is frankly a bit hit and miss at this point in time. Gareth Owen Racing performed very strongly for the first quarter with an average ROI of 35.61%. This month has however been rather shocking and whilst still in profit, it is hard to ignore a sharp decline. This is however a part of any tipster service. With that in mind I would say that Gareth Owen Racing is shaping up to be one of the better services that Betfan offer however it is probably too early to start committing large betting banks to it.
