O’Connor Racing is a brand new horse racing tipster service which is provided by Colin O’Connor. The website claims some very respectable results across the board.
Introduction O’Connor Racing
By and large, when a tipster service lands through Clickbank, I will roll my eyes, prepare to read through a modern fairy tale of overcoming the odds to become a pro punter, and then move on.
The truth is that whilst Clickbank makes up a massive amount of what I review (and will continue to do so diligently because bad products should be exposed), most of it is crap. But sometimes, something a little bit different comes along. O’Connor Racing seems to fall into exactly this category.
It is a new tipster service, although it seems to be genuine which is very important. There are some strong results as well, which goes a long way.
Something genuine that loses money, is still no good. Most importantly though, Colin O’Connor seems to be very engaged in his product, and that is a big part of the battle. Based off this initial assessment, I am pleasantly surprised by O’Connor Racing. But can it stand up to more substantive scrutiny?
What Does O’Connor Racing Offer?
Colin O’Connor says that one of his philosophies when it comes to horse racing tipster services is that quality is preferential to quality, and I couldn’t agree more. What this means for subscribers to O’Connor Racing however is that you will not necessarily be receive selections every day.
To be fair to Colin O’Connor, this is something that he is very upfront about and I believe that it is genuinely because he can’t find quality bets. When selections are available, they are sent directly to O’Connor Racing subscribers via email. This takes place the evening before racing, usually between 8pm and 9.30pm. the quality of these is decent enough.
When bets are advised, Colin O’Connor offers advice on whether they should be win or each way bets, however he ultimately leaves this choice down to the individual.
When there are bets for O’Connor Racing, these cover a pretty substantial range of odds, including some quite big winners in the last few weeks (at the time of writing). One thing that should be kept in mind is that you can potentially expect to see as many as 6 bets on a given day.
There is a staking plan in place for O’Connor Racing, and like a lot of the service, it appears to be shaped by Colin O’Connor’s betting philosophy. He says that he views it as an investment rather than gambling and as such, doesn’t believe in staking more than 1 point on every bet. This applies to both back to win and each way bets.
This means that you don’t ever really put too much of your betting bank at risk at any one time, and as such, it should be sustainable. This isn’t anything new, however I do believe that O’Connor Racing should be credited for staking sensibly.
Finally, I want to talk about the strike rate for O’Connor Racing. Looking through some of the results, I saw a number of high priced winners (including 11/1 and a 16/1) whilst the average odds are claimed to be 6.5.
As such, I wasn’t expecting a lot. Colin O’Connor claims however that his average strike rate is 28.9%, a number that I can believe. This is a pretty strong result all things considered.
How Does O’Connor Racing Work?
There have been a lot of positives so far in terms of O’Connor Racing, however I now have to address one of the issues that I have. That is namely the lack of information on what the selection process entails. I can entirely understand that some tipsters will not want to give away their system, and that is more than fair, however I do believe that we should have at least some insight.
Unfortunately, we don’t really get anything like this with O’Connor Racing. I have always said as a consumer, you should have some idea od what it is that you are getting into. Put bluntly, Colin O’Connor doesn’t give us anything which indicates this.
What is the Initial Investment?
There is only one option if you want to subscribe to O’Connor Racing, and that is to sign up for the service on a monthly basis. This is priced at £32 per month (plus VAT), which isn’t too expensive as far as things go. At the time of writing, it is worth noting that Colin O’Connor is offering O’Connor Racing on a 14 day trial at a cost of just £1.
Furthermore, although it isn’t really mentioned, the service is sold though Clickbank. This means that there is a full 60 day money back guarantee in place. Unfortunately, this isn’t something that is well advertised by Colin O’Connor.
What is the Rate of Return?
The results for O’Connor Racing look rather impressive.
We are told that the average monthly profit for the service is £468.89. That the total profit stands at £5,685. Honestly, everything I have seen so far means that I won’t dispute these numbers.
Here is what the website states:
Unfortunately, I haven’t seen anything that demonstrates how much Colin O’Connor is betting to achieve them. The important part for me is that there are consistent winners with a look at the O’Connor Racing Twitter page demonstrating this on a day by day basis. What really stands out for me is the ROI which is a very impressive 28.8%.
Conclusion on O’Connor Racing
Honestly, I think that O’Connor Racing is shaping up to be a pretty decent tipster service. There are a lot of good things to be talking about, even this early into the launch of the product. This includes a very strong ROI and considering the odds that are involved, a decent strike rate and some quite big wins.
However, the fact that O’Connor Racing is still in the early launch stage does bring some problems with it and it is these that I want to discuss in detail.
First of all, I think that strong results should be tempered with some proof of consistency. Unfortunately, despite numerous mentions of proofing and a spreadsheet, I haven’t been able to find this from Colin O’Connor (although I may be overlooking something obvious).
Honestly though, the main reason that I would like to see some proofing for O’Connor Racing is just to get a little bit of context for the longer results.
A quick look at the Twitter account for the service clearly demonstrates to me that Colin O’Connor is able to pick winners. As such, I am not overly inclined to question the results too much. I do however think that O’Connor Racing perhaps needs a little longer, just to provide a bit of a bigger picture.
I can appreciate Colin O’Connor’s philosophy of viewing betting as an investment, and when it comes to investing, I have a predilection towards being prudent and safe.
The fact of the matter however is that O’Connor Racing is reasonably priced, seemingly quite successful, and it is operated by somebody who is seemingly quite keen to grow their service and brand.
These are all good things that will potentially suit you well, in the future. What I mean by this, is that if Colin O’Connor can keep O’Connor Racing on the straight and narrow for a few months, whilst it is fully live, then I think that it will be worth some serious consideration.
As it is though, nothing is tougher on a new tipster than those first few months. Especially when they are independent. With that in mind, I would say that O’Connor Racing definitely deserves to be on your watch list, but I don’t see it as being on my present “to buy” list.
