OLBG is a long standing website that offers a comprehensive betting service. This ranges from strategies, to tipsters, and even information on bookie offers.
Introduction to OLBG
I genuinely believe that there are quite reasonable grounds for looking at the wider state of betting and despairing a little bit. It seems like there are so many questionable services out there that come out of the woodwork on a seemingly daily basis. But that doesn’t mean that everything out there is necessarily bad. Obviously, on this site we’ve looked at some very good proven products.
Another place that you can go if you are looking for something that is inherently pretty good, there is always OLBG. A website that honestly, is a bit of a unique creature in a lot of ways. You see, usually when I’m looking at something as a review, I am talking about something very specific, but what the OLBG team have put together is ultimately a very comprehensive betting site that covers most bases.
Honestly, there is simply so much ground to cover when it comes to OLBG that I feel that the best thing that I can do is simply jump right in. So, with that in mind, let’s start to sort out through this behemoth of a betting website, and see if it is actually any good or not.
What Does OLBG Offer?
Honestly, it would probably be slightly easier to talk about what OLBG doesn’t offer. The fact of the matter is that their website is by far and away one of the most complete betting websites I have looked at for a long time. Now, whilst I fully intend to give every element a look in, the focus for me here are the numerous tipsters that are on the site.
There are literally thousands of tipsters who are plying their trade through OLBG. Now, it should probably go without saying that quantity is no replacement for quality. Of those 2,000 plus tipsters that are involved, there may be just 5% of those that you actually want to consider. And honestly, you may not even wish to offer fealty to a single tipster.
You see, there are a few different ways of approaching that tipping element of OLBG. First of all, you do have the option of finding tipsters. For example, I might want to look at the best horse racing tipsters, or the best football tipsters, or even the best eSports tipsters. I could then simply follow their betting advice when they have selections available.
Alternatively, I may wish to look at the day’s best tips. This is exactly what it says it is, a list of the days best tips. These cover a massive number of different betting disciplines with which can be sorted and filtered in a number of ways. Naturally, these bring up massively differing results.
For example, at the time of writing this, there are a lot of bets advised on League of Legends and CSGO (both competitive online games that are frequently played in eSports). These are the tips offering the best value on OLBG at the time of writing, based off a five star rating system.
But if I want to know more about the bet, I can simply click on it. From here, I am taken to a page that shows that one team are advised to be backed by 10 out of 11 tipsters. One of the tipsters has talked about the bet and highlighted that the team are in form having won 10 of their last 11 games. And… Well, it’s literally that easy.
In just a few clicks, I have opened up a world of betting that I wouldn’t usually consider and been given insight into why a bet has been recommended. Honestly, if you don’t mind too much what you are betting on, OLBG’s tipsters can really open up the world for you.
Moving on from this, it is worth talking about some of the many other things that OLBG offer. For example, there is a whole section dedicated to betting strategy. Now this is a touch misleading, however, it does carry a lot of information still.
At the core of it all is the betting school. This is a comprehensive list of articles which tells you about a massive number of topics. Realistically, reading these will make you a better bettor. Now I will say that it can all be a little bit overwhelming, something that is in no small part pushed by the fact that there is little organisation.
There are also masses of blog posts related to betting and gambling. These may include things like why there has been a growth in the popularity of eSports (because there is no other sport on) to the next political leaders or even who the next James Bond will be. All of this is quite interesting and definitely offers insight.
Finally, there is also a member’s forum counted under the “Betting Strategy” tab of OLBG. This has more than 275,000 members total and covers a massive range of topics. From my experience using it, everyone seems to be pretty reasonable (by internet standards) making it a good place to ask questions and get feedback.
As well as all of that, OLBG also comes with a few other things that are worth talking about. As a punter, there is some interest to be had in looking at their bookie offers and “Best Bookies” roundup. Whilst the former is self-explanatory, the latter contains a lot of interesting and useful information.
This includes ratings for bookies based off member reviews, but most importantly, are their Bookie Guides. These talk about which bookies are best for different sporting disciplines, as other more esoteric (but arguably as important) things like which services offer the best live streaming experience or best bookies for Acca insurance.
The last thing that I want to talk about are the tipster competitions. For most people, these won’t be of much interest, but they are free to enter and OLBG pay out £6,400 in prizes every month. That isn’t too shabby if you are tipster starting out and perhaps don’t have a service yet, but still want to potentially make some money and test your mettle.
How Does OLBG Work?
Let’s be entirely honest here. At its core, OLBG is all about its members. Every single element of the website only works because there are people that are willing to submit their tips for others, to talk on the forums, and to contribute to blogs, bookmaker reviews and many other things.
Moving away from this and getting a little bit more technical (with a very purposeful focus on the tipsters), there is little in the way of definitive methodology. The fact of the matter is that there are simply so many tipsters involved with OLBG that there is no way of exploring all of their approaches.
With that said, that is why I like looking at the bets of the day. You can see how many people have tipped an event (which is a pretty good indicator), you can look at advised odds, and you will often get at least one explanation as to why a given selection has been made. This all means that you can make pretty informed decisions.
Which actually allows me to segue rather nicely into what I think that OLBG is ultimately all about, and that is helping you to become more informed. From the tips to the Betting School, every element of OLBG has the ability to impact your betting in a positive way.
What is the Initial Investment?
Now we come to the best part of OLBG. You see, there is no cost involved with the service. Everything is made available for free. To access most things, you don’t even have to sign up as a member. Whilst a service being free isn’t necessarily a particularly uncommon thing, it isn’t very often that you will find yourself looking at quite as much as OLBG offered for nothing.
What is the Rate of Return?
One of the things that are quite difficult when it comes to something like OLBG is figuring out how much you can earn. Because… Well, there isn’t any particular answer. The fact of the matter is that there are too many factors involved for there to be any kind of definitive answer and ultimately, you will get out of OLBG what you are willing to put into it.
With that said, I think that it is quite clear that there is some profit potential to be had. Looking at the best tipsters (at the time of writing) shows that if you had followed all of them, the last 30 days would have produced a profit of 46.7 points to 1 point stakes. Admittedly, that would have cost a lot to back, but it evidences that there is money to be made here.
Conclusion for OLBG
OLBG is a very interesting thing, because whilst it is a fantastic wider product, and it is entirely free, I don’t think that I would necessarily recommend this for everybody. Now I will come to the reasons for that, but I do want to talk about all of the positives first. Because there are just… so many of them.
First things first, and I know I’ve literally just said this, but it is worth hammering the point home. OLBG is free. You could very easily pay £20 per month for some of the tipsters that are currently on the platform. If you were to follow just the “best tipsters” at a cost of £5 per month each (which would be very cheap), you’d be paying out a hypothetical £60 per month.
This paints a very good picture of just how great value it is that OLBG is free. And a big part of that value is the fact that the tipsters are ultimately profitable. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that you can definitively say this, because of course, there will be ups and downs. But by and large, it really seems to me that there is just profit to be had if you are willing to keep up on bets.
On top of this, if you aren’t really used to betting, there are so many resources that are available to help you out. Whether you are looking at the betting advice that is provided, working with other members on the forum, or reading blog posts. There is just so much content. Which again, is all free.
So, why wouldn’t I recommend this you may well be asking? There isn’t a short answer to this, but a lot of it is based around where you are in your betting career. You see, a lot of people like betting as it is a very passive form of income. That is to say, you don’t have to effectively do a lot to make money.
With OLBG, I don’t think that it’s unreasonable to say that there is slightly more work involved here. Not much, but it is just enough that if you are doing it every day, the time and effort does increase slightly. Furthermore, there is a bit of a lack of consistency. Working with your own betting system or a professional tipster service does make things easier, albeit at a price.
Now, if you are setting out anew, then OLBG is a fantastic option. There are tons of tips available and… Well, you know where I’m going with this (they’re free). The fact is that when you start out betting, money is a more valuable resource than time. On a long enough scale, the equilibrium changes slightly, and that is a very pertinent point to end on.
Ultimately, I think that I would recommend this to anybody. It’s free, and it’s profiftable! I cannot stress enough how difficult it can be to find any sort of half decent tipster that doesn’t cost a lot of money, let alone no money. With that being said, expect there to be some investment of your time where you aren’t investing money.
