Placebet Profit is a new to market horse racing tipster service that is operated by Tony Adams. As the name of the service suggests, it is based around place betting.
Introduction to Placebet Profit
Whilst there are many ways of ultimately beating the bookie that can be measured “on a long enough timeframe”, that simply isn’t something that is workable for most people. Sure, you’ll eventually make money. That is a good thing. But the fact of the matter is that for a lot of people who are looking at betting as a second income especially, they need to be winning because they want to spend their winnings. That isn’t an unreasonable notion. But it is one that a lot of tipster services don’t allow for.
In theory, today’s review subject should allow for that kind of betting. Because (as the name suggests) Placebet Profit is concerned with simply backing a horse to place, you have a much higher chance of winning. And if Tony Adams can deliver on the claims that he makes, then that is only compounded. Add to all of those positives that this is ultimately quite a simple betting service to follow, and it should be a winner. There is definitely a lot to like here. At least, all of that is in theory.
The fact of the matter is that whilst Placebet Profit really does seem like a solid option, there are a few questions that need to be asked of Tony Adams. Well… I say a few. There are actually quite a significant number. And this is down to the fact that there are some truly massive gaps in knowledge and a lack of information and insight provided. These are pretty big stumbling blocks, especially when a tipster service doesn’t seem to be working out quite as planned. So, let’s get straight into it.
What Does Placebet Profit Offer?
One of the things that I like about Placebet Profit is that there is a relatively straightforward and incredibly simple structure. Because of what Tony Adams is doing and who this kind of service is (at least theoretically) suited for, ease of use is key. That is something I want you to keep in mind through this, because a lot of people end up seeing simple as a massive negative.
So, let’s talk about what Placebet Profit ultimately entails. As you might, this is a daily tipster service. Well, Tony Adams says that he sends out selections each day. This is actually a little bit of a concerning point to me, if I’m really honest. Any tipster worth their salt will know that there will inevitably be days where there just aren’t decent betting opportunities. But let’s put that to one side for now.
Selections are sent out on the morning of racing, the emails themselves are rather lacking in my opinion. Tony Adams mentions that he will include “the race, the time and the horse to bet on” as well as “any other betting advice for the day”. The former part is the bare minimum that I would expect from a tipster. On the flip side of that, the latter elements feel lacking and life an afterthought. All of which puts Placebet Profit at a bit of a disadvantage.
Adding to these problems, is the timing of selections being sent out. Sometimes bets can land quite late in the day. This doesn’t necessarily have to be a problem, but it is here. You see, as you would expect from a place betting service, the odds involved are incredibly short. And there simply aren’t many bookies that offer place betting markets. This means that you really want to try and maximise your returns.
For context on how much this can impact things, I often see a 10% to 20% increase when I look at an odds comparison site. When you’re dealing with the smaller numbers that place betting involves, those small improvements can really add up for not a lot of extra work. But Placebet Profit just doesn’t give you much time to act on this, and that is a bit of a problem.
So just how low are the odds that we’re talking about here? Well, whilst Tony Adams isn’t backing at less than evens day in, day out, you are still getting low odds. Typically, you’re looking at lower than 2/1. Placebet Profit really doesn’t produce big winners. But then, that isn’t the point of the service.
This is something that I think you really see when you look at Tony Adams’s claimed strike rate for Placebet Profit. Specifically, he says that over the last 6 months, the average strike rate has been 65.88%. That number is believable enough for a place betting service, but there are a few things there that I take exception to. Firstly, it strikes me as very convenient that it is over the last 6 months. Secondly, there isn’t really anything backing the number up.
Whilst we’re talking about the numbers side of things, let’s talk stakes. Coming full circle back to that idea of a simple and straightforward tipster service, it is nice to see that Tony Adams simply uses level stakes of 1 point per bet with Placebet Profit. Specifically, he says that he personally uses £10 per bet.
What he doesn’t do however is really talk about what sort of betting bank you will need to get started with Placebet Profit. This is a bit of a frustrating point for me. You see, the claimed high strike rate of the service suggests that you don’t need a particularly big bank. But that supposes quite a lot, namely that Tony Adams is being transparent about how often you will win.
Personally, I would want a pretty moderate sized betting bank here. It’s a little bit of overkill, but probably 100 points. You see, whilst Placebet Profit isn’t particularly high volume with just a few bets on a given week, I’m really not sold on how often you’ll win. As such, it is definitely better to over prepare for drawdown rather than underprepare.
How Does Placebet Profit Work?
Whilst Placebet Profit should fundamentally be a good looking service for a lot of people (some especially so), there is quite a lot that is ultimately seriously lacking. Nowhere is this more apparent then when you try to understand how the service works. Now, I will admit that in theory this is all relatively straightforward. It’s easier for a horse to place than it is for a horse to win. As such, if you’re winning often enough, you profit.
But here’s the thing, you still have to know how to pick the horses to place. Tony Adams suggests that there is a method behind this, but he explicitly states “I’m not going to reveal my method, if too many people use this then the very delicate prices of the place market will take a dive and none of us will profit form [sic] it”. Now, I can understand the principle, btu I doubt the 50 people Placebet Profit is supposedly open to will impact things that much.
What it seems like to me is really just a cop out so that you don’t actually have to talk about what your selection process entails. Because that is the important part of operating a tipster service. At the end of the day, if selections aren’t coming from a proper service, winners might as well be drawn out of a hat. The fact that Tony Adams goes so far out of his way not to discuss how Placebet Profit works is a massive concern.
Adding to this is the fact that we don’t actually get any proofing showing that Placebet Profit works. We are told that you can expect to see “regular updates” but this isn’t something that I’ve seen yet. Probably not surprisingly I am quite sceptical about ever receiving this. But importantly, if you’re signing up to this, you really are coming into it all pretty blind.
What is the Initial Investment?
There is only one option available if you want to subscribe to Placebet Profit. Rather interestingly though, Tony Adams does give you multiple ways of paying this. So, first things first, let’s talk about the costs. This is a one time cost of £25 for which you get access to the service on a 60 day trial. This is non-recurring and there doesn’t seem to be any sort of option or information on how you might continue (which is incredibly important as I will explore).
Now, you can pay for Placebet Profit either directly to Tony Adams through Paypal, or you can purchase the service through Clickbank. What is interesting to me is that whilst this is mentioned, what we are told is “Don’t forget, you are Covered by clickbanks money back guarantee which makes this 100% risk free for you”. There is no mention of the fact that there is only a 30 day money back period.
Furthermore, if you don’t purchase Placebet Profit through Clickbank, you’re a bit up creek in terms of the money back guarantee. Paypal are notorious for not really offering refunds or siding with the customer in the case of refunds on betting systems. All that means there is that you’re relying on Tony Adams to give you your money back, and I’m not certain he would.
What is the Rate of Return?
The main claim for Placebet Profit is Tony Adams saying that he has made 136 points of profit in 6 months. That is a very respectable and believable number. It would put the service in line for 272 points in a year which is really quite impressive. But here’s the thing, you’re just taking the word of somebody for this. There is minimal evidence that this kind of number is actually achievable, and as such, it shouldn’t be surprising that I am really quite sceptical of it.
Conclusion for Placebet Profit
There is no denying the fact that it’s much easier to pick which horses will place than will win. On the right races, you’re looking at picking out four horses from a race rather than one. But that still doesn’t mean that it is easy. The fact is that it still requires a lot of skill in order to pick those out consistently enough to actually turn a profit.
This brings me to the small and really quire concerning fact that Tony Adams doesn’t actually adequately demonstrate much of anything. It doesn’t strike me as a coincidence that he supposedly can’t share his methods, or rather, won’t. My gut feeling is that this probably isn’t a whole lot of “method” behind Placebet Profit.
This is in no small part down to the fact that there are some elements of Placebet Profit that are just a bit shady. Sure, you have that option of purchasing the service through Clickbank. But it stands out to me that there is only a 30 day money back guarantee here, despite Tony Adams offering 60 days worth of tips. Now, that could be an innocent thing, but I don’t really believe that it is.
Because purchasing Placebet Profit through Clickbank isn’t the only option. In fact, you’re told that if you want to pay through Paypal you should click a separate link. Here, you do indeed pay “Tony Adams” directly through Paypal. So, you might be thinking, why is this a bad thing? Well, you can pay for things through Clickbank, using Paypal. As such it seems entirely redundant. And the only reason that I can see, is an attempt to avoid refunds. Which rather ties it all together.
A lot of these flaws aren’t necessarily things that might immediately strike you. But they are very much there. And what I feel that these issues really highlight is the risk that you’re taking on. There simply isn’t much I the way of proof that Placebet Profit works. Tony Adams seemingly tries to go out of his way to avoid certain levels of culpability. It really is quite concerning.
All of that is enough that I really wouldn’t look to recommend Placebet Profit. The fact is that there are just huge gaps in key information, and whilst the profit claims look reasonable, if Tony Adams can’t deliver on them, it’s a problem. And truthfully, I don’t believe for a moment that he can. This is in small part down to the fact that the whole service is actually being sold by a vendor that is relatively well known to me.
Unfortunately, what they are known for is releasing… well, questionable tipster services. There have been a number of them and over this time, I am yet to see one that has performed close to as promised or has in fact stuck around for anything that looks like a long term service. The blunt fact is that I don’t really expect that Placebet Profit will be any different either. As such, your money and time would probably be better invested elsewhere.
