Platinum Racing is a new to market horse racing tipster service that is being offered through the Bet Viral tipster platform. Selections come courtesy of Joel Simmons who very significant long term profits.
Introduction to Platinum Racing
If there is one thing that I don’t tend to like seeing when it comes to a betting service that I am looking at, it’s nonsense. It isn’t to say that a complex service can’t be profitable. In actual fact, the most profitable tipster services that I have seen have fallen into that category. But the fact of the matter is that what I think most people want from betting is to win regularly. It’s all well and good seeing a 10,000/1 acca come in every 6 months. But how many people can realistically, sink a 5,000 point betting bank into that?
It is with that in mind that I am quite keen to explore today’s service, Platinum Racing. This is a storied tipster service that doesn’t involve anything more than straightforward betting. On top of that, Joel Simmons doesn’t use silly staking plans to inflate results. Everything that Bet Viral present is a pretty fair representation of what you can expect. Which you might think should be the bare minimum for a tipster service, but the sad truth of the matter is that it isn’t. In fact, some tipster services will use a lot of tricks to seem more profitable.
The fact that this isn’t the case here makes the claimed profits for Platinum Racing even more impressive. So, you might be thinking, there is nothing to do but sing the praises of Joel Simmons, right? Well, not entirely. As Bet Viral are inevitably want to do (it is after all their job to market services), not everything is quite as it seems. In fact, whilst this is a no nonsense tipster service, there are a significant number of conditions surrounding it. And if you aren’t meeting those, well, it I a very different picture.
What Does Platinum Racing Offer?
First things first, let’s talk about the things that I like about Platinum Racing. There isn’t much in the way of bells and whistles, but I feel like almost everything that Bet Viral do as the manager of the service adds value. They go above and beyond the industry norms, and that element of things is right up there.
Also feel like Joel Simmons has his head screwed on relatively straight. To be clear, Platinum Racing is a tipster service that is very much a game of two halves. In more recent times, it has taken moves to be a bit more conservative. Something that on a personal level I definitely welcome. There is little that is worse than a tipster playing a bit too fast and loose with your money.
Before I get into the betting side of things though, let’s talk some more about how Bet Viral manage everything. As you’d expect from any modern tipster service, tips for Platinum Racing are made available directly via email. Typically, this is one the morning of racing. All pretty standard stuff.
Bet Viral do however also an option to receive selections via the app Telegram. For those who aren’t familiar with this app, it is a messaging app that reports to be the fastest in the world. For me, it also means getting tips directly to my phone and not missing them. Something that is hugely beneficial with something like Platinum Racing.
The reasons that I say this is because this is very much a service that is dependent on getting longer odds where possible. For some context on all of this, whilst Bet Viral show that Joel Simmons has advised lowest odds of just 2.5, the numbers go all the way up to 101. In the middle of all of this are average odds for Platinum Racing of 14.1.
With those kinds of numbers, you don’t tend to win all that often (as I will be picking up shortly). As such, I would consider it to be prudent to ensure that you are using an odds comparison site if at all possible. This applies doubly so when you start to break down the disparity of results for Platinum Racing (again, something that I will be picking up later). Make no mistake about it, you want to be maximising your odds at all times.
Fortunately, this isn’t necessarily a hug amount of additional work. Whilst Joel Simmons has historically advised as many as 19 bets in a single day, things are much different now. Most months are averaging less than 2 bets per day. All of which makes Platinum Racing incredibly manageable as a service. As do the very straightforward combination of win and each way bets.
Now, let’s address the elephant in the room. I actively mentioned earlier that Platinum Racing is a service that doesn’t win all that often. How far does this go? Well, the average strike rate for the service sits at 22.22%. “That doesn’t look terrible”, you might think, especially given the odds. But this is bolstered by some strong early results. Over the last 12 months, Joel Simmons has actually averaged closer to 17.5%.
Fortunately, things like the betting bank and the staking plan more than adequately covers this. Stakes are recommended of just 1 point on win bets whilst each way bets are advised at 2 points. In more recent times, there have been less and less each way bets too meaning that by and large, they are an exception with Platinum Racing.
All of this means that whilst the strike rate is low, a modest bank should suffice with Joel Simmons’s tips. For some context on this, at the time of writing, Platinum Racing hasn’t had a winning bet for 2 weeks. There have been 22 bets placed. And yet the drawdown is quite modest at just 23 points. Whilst it would be naïve to dismiss these numbers are nothing, they aren’t the end of the world either.
How Does Platinum Racing Work?
There are two elements in term of how Platinum Racing “works” as a service. The first that I want to talk about is value. This isn’t just something that Joel Simmons and Bet Viral explicitly mention, you can see it across the results. This is most obvious when you consider the odds. Long odds are rarely picked because they’re going to win regularly. But when they do win, they can turn around some quite significant drawdowns.
The other element the selection process for Platinum Racing. This is something that is incredibly welcome. Specifically, we are told that Joel Simmons finds his selections “By sheer hard work and by using my Handicap figures, Race Pace figures, ground conditions and top information that I get from people I respect in the industry”. This is a solid looking combination of inside information and knowledge and understanding of the sport.
Of course, it is worth keeping in mind that to some degree, you are simply taking Joel Simmons’s word on this. But I do rather believe that there is something to all of this. The numbers really add up and the proofing that Bet Viral provide is definitely in line with what Platinum Racing is supposedly about. On top of this, when you read through the sales material, I think it is quite apparent that this is somebody with at least some knowledge of the sport.
On top of all of this, I want to refer back to that proofing that Bet Viral provide. This doesn’t necessarily tell you about how Platinum Racing works. But it does give you a decent idea of the “ebb and flow” of the service. You can get a very good idea of how wins are spaced out, what sort of thing you can expect. Something that I do think is definitely important here. Because this isn’t necessarily something that will be for everybody.
What is the Initial Investment?
As far as the costs go for Platinum Racing, there are a number of options available. These vary quite a lot in terms of the value and the outlay. The lest expensive option is a monthly subscription which is priced at £30 every month. At the time of writing, there is also an option to get your first month for just £4.97. Something that you should note however is that a month to Bet Viral is every 28 days.
The next option is a quarterly subscription which is priced at £60 every 3 months. A substantial saving on the monthly option. As with the monthly subscription option, at the time of writing, you can get your first month for £4.97. Furthermore, if you stick around on the website, there is an option to get your first full quarter for just £25. Again, this is referred to as a limited option.
Conventionally, the best value subscription offering or Platinum Racing is the 6 monthly subscription. For a one time payment of £77, you get access to Joel Simmons’ selections for 6 months. Whilst this is the highest outlay, it does mean some very considerable savings over the period.
Something that is worth keeping in mind is that Bet Viral don’t offer any sort of money back guarantee or refund on their services. Of course, this also applies to Platinum Racing. As such, if you are going to take advantage of that additional value, you have to be quite committed to the long term service.
What is the Rate of Return?
With a profit of about 632 points at the time of writing, Platinum Racing has done well. Even over almost 2 years, that is still 316 points profit per year. An incredibly respectable number given the lack of inflated stakes. However ,there are some very important considerations when you’re looking at these numbers.
First and foremost, almost a third of that, 209 points was earned in the first two months. Factor that out and Platinum Racing looks much more modest. With that said, over the last 12 months, you’re still looking at a very reasonable result of 240 points. Given that almost all of that is to single point stakes, it is actually quite strong. As is the ROI for the period which is around 42%.
There is however one minor issue with all of this. All of these numbers are to BOG. If you are following Platinum Racing to BSP or SP, you re looking at just 115 points of profit and a 65.5 points loss respectively. This is precisely why I emphasised the point about ensuring that you are maximising your odds.
Conclusion for Platinum Racing
On the surface of things, Platinum Racing looks like a decent tipster service. Based off what I’ve seen across the whole thing, I think that Joel Simmons is somebody with a decent amount of knowledge and insight into horse racing. Importantly to me though is the fact that he is willing to change what he does.
This service was started and marketed as a value based each way service. Nowadays, it is based around backing to win. This willingness to switch things up is really quite important. I can’t tell you how many services I’ve seen that have failed because a tipster refuses to change up what they do. So, that’s all positive for Platinum Racing.
Then of course there is the profit. Platinum Racing has performed very well. It’s just that… well, it’s only performed very well under certain circumstances. If you aren’t betting to BOG, this is pretty much a no go to me. And that is something that not everybody is going to be able to do. So, straight away, this makes it hard to recommend the service.
On top of that, 1/3rd of the profits that have been made aren’t going to repeat. Those few hundred points that Joel Simmons made in the first few months were mostly down to an incredibly high volume of bets. For some context on this, over 2 years, there have been some 1,200 bets. 200 of those were in the first few months. That is a massive percentage that simply isn’t likely to be repeated.
Realistically, Platinum Racing is something that can work for some people. But that is going to be quite a small minority. You need to be able to bet to BOG. Furthermore, you have to be able to act quite quickly in order to take advantage of value odds. These are all things that can contribute to this being a more difficult service. Despite the inherent simplicity of it all.
So, would I look to recommend Platinum Racing? It’s a bit of a difficult one for me to say definitively that it is. The truth is that whilst this might be a decent option for some people, it isn’t that great across the board. The profits are much more modest on recent form (despite strong ROI’s), Bet Viral aren’t asking a lot, but it isn’t cheap either. The bottom line for me is that there are just too many variables to make this truly consistent.
With that in mind, I don’t think that I would recommend Platinum Racing. To be clear, it isn’t that this is a bad service per se. I think that Joel Simmons does a lot right. But this is a very competitive industry. The fact is that I always find it difficult to recommend a service that will only work for a few. If you are in a position to take advantage of everything this needs and you can get an early price, it might be worth a go. But otherwise, your money may be better spent elsewhere.
