Sprinters is a new to market horse racing tipster service with selections coming courtesy of tipster Gary Livermore. The service is managed and operated by Premium Sports Tipsters who make some strong claims about the performance.
Introduction to Sprinters
Longevity is a truly incredible thing. Whilst there are hundreds, if not thousands of tipster services out there, many of them end up being nothing but a flash in the pan. There are many different reasons for that. Some are launched after a few good months. They don’t necessarily perform well in the long term. Other more questionable efforts aren’t designed for longevity. They exist to get subscribers, and then quietly close down . Usually after losing a lot of money. So, when I see a tipster service with 2 and a bit years of proofing, I’m interested.
This wonderful segue brings me to today’s review subject. Sprinters is a service that seemingly really has legs. More than that, Premium Sports Tipsters are actually in a position to put their money where their mouth is with it. And then of course there is the obvious most appealing thing about the service. That is the fact that Gary Livermore has actually managed to produce some really quite impressive profits. Combine all of that with some really quite reasonable pricing, and you’re on to a guaranteed winner, right?
Well, as is so often the case, all isn’t quite what it seems to be with Sprinters. Because when you start to scratch the surface of the service, it becomes apparent that all isn’t quite as it seems. One could argue that there has been some inflation of Gary Livermore’s results. With that said, in my experience Premium Sports Tipsters do tend to have a decent amount of integrity, so it doesn’t strike me as being dodgy. So, with quite a lot of ground to cover really, let’s get into it all and have a look to see whether this is a worthwhile option.
What Does Sprinters Offer?
It can sometimes be quite a difficult thing understanding where to start in terms of what a tipster service offers. There area of course always incredibly obvious answers. For example, one could say that Sprinters is a horse racing tipster service. But that misses out on the nuance in terms of what Gary Livermore is actually doing.
The truth is that a look at Premium Sports Tipsters’ proofing shows that Sprinters is actually a service with quite a lot going on in the background. Now, this doesn’t mean that Gary Livermore is doing anything that makes this difficult to follow. But there isn’t a whole lot of standardisation either. In my opinion, this is a strong positive, but it might also put some people off.
Probably the area where this is most obviously demonstrated is the bets that you are placing. There is a healthy mix of win and each way bets advised by Gary Livermore in a roughly 2:1 ratio. What is quite interesting to me though is the fact that there aren’t necessarily any immediately discernible patterns behind Sprinters in this regard either.
Don’t get me wrong mind, there is the obvious structure of longer shots being backed as each way, but it isn’t entirely some hard and fast rule. For example, just in the last week, Gary Livermore has advised an each way bet at 6.50, whilst a 7.0 horse was backed as a winner (something that it duly did).
This does bring me on to the topic of odds. There is a massive range on show in Premium Sports Tipsters’ proofing for Sprinters. Whilst the average odds work out at 6.69, they actually run from evens all the way up to 100/1. The massive outsiders aren’t entirely commonplace, but Gary Livermore gets into double digit odds quite regularly.
For what it’s worth, if I were following Sprinters, I would probably look to take advantage of an odds comparison site. The truth is that this isn’t a hugely intensive service. As such, it seems very worthwhile taking the time to make sure you’re betting with the best bookmaker. It is also definitely worth exploring bookies that offer more places in bets.
Now, adding this step isn’t necessarily easy. Whilst Sprinters isn’t necessarily a high volume service in the grand scheme of things, there can still be a fair old amount of betting. Over about 2 and a bit years, there have been just over 1,300 bets. That sounds a lot. But it averages out at about 3 bets every two days.
Of course, the distribution isn’t necessarily like that. Premium Sports Tipsters show that Gary Livermore can vary massively. There are no bet days (as you’d probably expect) and days where there can be as many as 4 or 5 selections. Sprinters isn’t unmanageable at all, but those busier days do of course mean a bit more work. Especially if you’re trying to compare available odds.
Fortunately, you do at least have a reasonable window of time to do this. Premium Sports Tipsters have put out a number of services and in my experience, they are pretty professional. This is reflected in the management of everything. Furthermore, Gary Livermore gives a decent window of time between selections being sent out and the off.
The final thing that is worth talking about are the numbers side of things. This is something that is incredibly important when you’re looking at the stakes. The average stake per bet comes in at 1.91 points. But the fact is that if you’re following Sprinters, you can expect to stake anywhere from a single point on each bet all the way up to 5 points (although this is a more recent change).
Those numbers really start to add up. Staking 10 points per day isn’t outside of the realm of possibility at all. With that in mind, I would want a very significant betting bank. I will concede that I am a least somewhat conservative, but I would personally want at least 150 points if I were following Sprinters. Just to cover any drawdown.
This is quite important to consider. Because the average strike rate for Sprinters of 31.48% looks impressive. But the truth of the matter is that the results really vary wildly from month to month. As such, you can expect to see some quite serious swings.
How Does Sprinters Work?
Much of the focus in terms of how Sprinters “works” is based around Gary Livermore and his reputation within the betting community. There is also a lot made of the fact that he is constantly trying to improve his knowledge of betting. All of this is actually quite commendable given that there are some tipsters who are a bit stuck in their ways. Make no mistake about it, all of this is a huge part of how Premium Sports Tipsters are marketing this.
For example, we are told about how Gary Livermore has a lifelong fascination with horse racing. How even from an early age he “developed a very keen interest in getting to REALLY know the horses, jockeys, trainers and owners etc.”. We are told about the fact that as he has got older and his knowledge and interest has grown, he has developed his ability to bet on these horses. Unfortunately, it doesn’t necessarily tell us much about Sprinters.
Something that is very insightful with Sprinters is a small, but quite important, statement. Gary Livermore says that “It soon became crystal clear that I had a good eye for selecting winners and a good memory for form and past/present performance”. This strongly implies that there is a system there based around form and statistical analysis based off historic data. It isn’t much, but it’s certainly more insight than a lot of tipster services give.
And honestly, when you combine this with the fact that you have over two years of proofing for Sprinters from Premium Sports Tipsters, you really do get a good idea of what you can expect. The fact is that this does a very good job of showing the “ebb and flow” of Gary Livermore’s bets. I would always like to see more about how selections are found, but at least you aren’t coming into this blind.
What is the Initial Investment?
Premium Sports Tipsters and Gary Livermore offer a number of different subscriptions if you are want to sign up to Sprinters. Each of these come with their own costs, and resultantly, the value for money on offer. The cheapest option in terms of the initial outlay is a monthly subscription which is priced at £37.
There is better value in signing up quarterly subscription at a cost of £79 with your first quarter costing just £37. By far and away the least expensive option is signing up for the full season. Now, this does involve the highest outlay with a cost of £97. At the time of writing, if you spend some time hanging around on the sales page, this will be offered to you for just £49. Whichever price you get it at, you get selections until the 31st of September.
It is worth noting that Premium Sports Tipsters don’t really offer any sort of money back guarantee on their products and services which of course, includes Sprinters. This means that whilst you do get much better value signing up for those longer subscription lengths, you should see it as a commitment if you want to get the most out of the service.
What is the Rate of Return?
Context is very important when it comes to dissecting the profit and loss side of Sprinters. In theory, it all looks very good with Premium Sports Tipsters showing Gary Livermore sitting at a profit of about 660 points over 2 years and two months. That’s a yearly average of about 330 points, a number that a lot of tipsters would be happy to take.
There is however a minor issue with that and that is the fact that the stakes do inflate the end result. Whilst there may well be arguments to be made for the way Gary Livermore approaches staking, they do impact the end result. If you were to square Sprinters away to a consistent level staking plan, you’d be looking at closer to 345 points over 2 years. This means an average monthly profit of about 13 points. Still not bad, but less than the proofing shows.
Conclusion for Sprinters
Here’s the bottom line as far as I’m concerned when it comes to Sprinters. This isn’t a bad tipster service. In actual fact, I think that it is probably pretty good. The results that Premium Sports Tipsters demonstrate aren’t those of a bad tipster. And yes, there have been some ups and downs, but that is simply part and parcel of betting. If you don’t want that, don’t bet.
Here’s the bottom line for me. In 26 months of tipping, Gary Livermore has had just 5 losing months. 2 of those lost less than 3 points. This is a remarkably consistent tipster service in the long run. Now, is it perfect? Absolutely not. There is quite a lot to be said for misrepresenting the results for Sprinters at least a little bit.
There are also some lingering doubts for me about how Gary Livermore went from betting 2 points per bet consistently to the wildly varying swings that are expected now. This isn’t something that Premium Sports Tipsters talk about (despite being very clear) and it does cause some issues for Sprinters. Is it a deal breaker? Absolutely not. But I always find myself questioning extreme change. Especially when it isn’t explained or explored.
All of that aside though, this is a service that does just seem competent. A statement that I mean as the utmost praise. An ROI of 25.76% is bloody impressive given the time scales involved. And whilst the points profit isn’t necessarily amazing when you scale it back, you’re still looking at about 10 points per month profit after your sub. That is consistent for something like Sprinters.
Then there is the cost. This is an area where I feel like Sprinters really stands out. Now, it isn’t cheap. But if you can get this on offer at that £49 price point, you will more likely than not make a profit here. I would be very surprised if you didn’t make £50 over the rest of the season.
And in some ways, that is about all that I can say about Sprinters. What really stands out about this as a service to me is that… well, it isn’t really outstanding. Gary Livermore isn’t doing anything flashy or using any silly angles. What he has done is simply gone about his business and produced some respectable profits. Something he has done consistently. In and of itself, that alone makes it worth some consideration.
