The Racing Tipster Review

The Racing Tipster is a horse racing tipster service which is offered by Joel Ellis. It provides selective selections which can supposedly drive a very consistent profit.

What does the product offer?

“Quality Horse Racing Tips” reads one of the headers for The Racing Tipster. Usually I wouldn’t mention this or if I did, it would be with entirely sardonic intentions. I am however massively impressed with what I have seen so far from Joel Ellis and I am quietly pleased to say that a tipster has finally marketed a product in a genuine fashion.

Of course the concept of quality horse racing tips is a little vague in and of itself but the service genuinely appears to deliver on this point. With this in mind, let’s take a look at exactly what you are getting into with The Racing Tipster.

As is the case with most tipster services, the logistics of The Racing Tipster do not really differ. Bets are sent out to subscribers directly via email, however this is where Joel Ellis’s approach starts to differ.

It is not uncommon for there to be quite large gaps between bets. In fact, in March this year, just over half of the days ad selections sent out.

When they are available however, you can expect to see some days having a fair old handful of bets sent out.

On the subject of the bets, Joel Ellis keeps things simple which is definitely a positive.

Here is a list of the profits and loss from The Racing Tipster Website:

The Racing Tipster Results.

All selections are advised as straight win bets which makes following The Racing Tipster pretty forward from a technical point. What is impressive however is the average odds that you are betting at which are rarely lower than 3.0 (average odds of 3.88).

Combined with a reasonable strike rate, this could make for a potent combination.

The staking plan that is involved with The Racing Tipster is equally as straight forward as the rest of it and is a simple level affair of 1 point per bet.

I am always a fan of this kind of staking plan as it allows for a genuine measure of bank growth and offers a sustainability that some of the more extravagant examples don’t (one service I looked at recently involved staking 10 points per bet!).

I talked earlier about how the odds that Joel Ellis backs at would pair well with reasonable strike rate. In fact, the advertised strike rate for The Racing Tipster stands at 39% which over the 15 or so months that the service has been proofed for.

Given that I would generally consider a strike rate of more than 30% to be decent, I think this provides some strong context.

How does The Racing Tipster work?

Whilst there isn’t exactly a host of information in terms of the selection process for The Racing Tipster and what it entails, I do believe that there is more than most services provide. Joel Ellis supposedly has “many years of knowledge and also form studying”.

That latter part is what is important to me. I have dealt with a number of form based tipster services before now and it is one area where the results are hugely mixed.

To date however, there is nothing to suggest that The Racing Tipster falls into the “naff” camp.

What is the initial investment?

There are a large number of different ways of paying for a subscription to The Racing Tipster. The first is a monthly subscription which comes in at £50 per month until you cancel the service.

Next we have a quarterly option which costs £135 per quarter (representing a 10% discount). Finally there is an annual subscription which comes in at £480. This represents a 20% discount compared to the monthly costs.

These are not however the only option for The Racing Tipster. Whilst the above options are subscription based, there is also a guaranteed option. This costs £75 per month and provides an “instant refund” if Joel Ellis’s tips fail to make a profit.

Outside of this, there is no money back guarantee etc. in place.

What is the rate of return?

The straightforward methods that The Racing Tipster employs produce a profit that on the surface of things is a long way from mind blowing. There has been a profit of 310 points with an average monthly return of 20 points on average.

Where I am particularly taken with The Racing Tipster is how the averages work out. The actual range over the last 15 months is a low of a 7.9 point loss whilst there have been two months that have made just over 31 points.

To me this is massively preferential to a service that has 60 points one month and loses 30 the next.

Conclusion on The Racing Tipster?

There are a lot of different tipster services on the market and knowing which are really worth your time and consideration is a difficult task.

I have to say that even given the number of tipsters that I have looked at before, whilst I remember the bad and the good, there are a lot that I would class as middle ground.

The Racing Tipster comes very close to falling into this category with one exception which is the consistency that profits appear to have been generated.

Whilst the average monthly profits work out particularly well, what stands out is the fact that the real world monthly profits are still very respectable. Yes, there has been a single losing month (which given the timescale is a successful result in my book).

There has also been months where profits are not necessarily as strong as others but generally speaking the results are incredibly consistent which will work particularly well for anybody who wants to withdraw profit on a regular basis.

If there is one potential problem that I have with The Racing Tipster, and it is a minor one, it is that Joel Ellis has priced it towards the high end of the market.

I can think of services which for the money will have generated more profit in the same space of time. I can even think of several examples which cost even less. Whether this is a problem for you will ultimately depend on how you bet and what you are looking for from your portfolio.

For my money, The Racing Tipster is a solid offering and it is definitely worth consideration.

There is a premium involved but on reflection, I think that Joel Ellis has put together results that just about warrant it. Of course there are alternatives available and I have to be honest and say that The Racing Tipster doesn’t necessarily blow them out of the water.

With that in mind, Joel Ellis is definitely a reasonable tipster from everything that I have seen, but you might want to do a bit of homework before committing at the costs involved.
