Value Basketball is a basketball tipster service that is being offered through the Tipstrr platform. To date, it has shown some truly impressive and consistent results.
Introduction to Value Basketball
There are a lot of different tipster platforms online. Arguably more now than there ever has been. Which makes it a truly difficult thing to know where to look. There are of course obvious and reputable sites such as Betting Gods. They proof everything extensively, and nothing gets released that isn’t BS. Then you have stables like Betfan. There, results are often mixed. But ultimately, they proof their tipsters. Then there are those platforms that will allow anybody on. They can be sketchy, but they can also have some real gems.
That is of course quite a lengthy introduction to a tipster service without saying anything about it. But in the case of today’s review subject, it feels quite necessary. You see, Value Basketball is being sold through Tipstrr. This is a platform that effectively, anybody can start tipping on. As you can imagine, there can be a lot of rubbish. But when something actively gets recommended to me, such as with today’s review subject. Well, it’s pretty hard not to sit up and pay attention to it.
All of this applies doubly so because, as the name suggests, Value Basketball is concerned with basketball betting. This type of more niche sport isn’t something that I typically recommend as a main source of betting income. But I am always looking for ways to build a flexible and profitable portfolio. Something that this can really help with. So far, so straightforward, but there is one last thing to consider. Whilst Tipstrr are comprehensive, their methods of record keeping is sometimes… a little strange. So, let’s get into it and see if this is really as good as it looks.
What Does Value Basketball Offer?
Something that I often like to see when it comes to betting is simplicity. Simplicity doesn’t have to be a bad thing when it comes to betting. In actual fact, it is something that can be leveraged to make betting more accessible and easier to manage. These are all things that I would want to see from something like Value Basketball.
This is also something that the tipster behind the service delivers in troves. I can honestly say that it’s been a while since I’ve looked at a basketball tipster service that is this straightforward. In fact, what Tipstrr show paints a picture of Value Basketball as being an ideal service for those who are looking to add to their current betting.
All of this starts when you look at how the tipster behind the service manages Value Basketball. Typically speaking, tips are made available either the evening before a game or on the morning of. This usually means either between 4pm and 8pm, or 12am and 8am. Whenever the selections are made available, there is generally a decent notice period to get them on and seek out decent odds.
This is something that I would recommend doing. Tipstrr as a platform do have their tipsters provide insight into what odds are available on the market, and these are typically attainable. But, as the name of Value Basketball suggests, there is a focus on value here. As such, taking the time out to maximise your odds will serve you well.
With the early timing of bets, this is a very feasible thing to do. Where possible, I would look to use an odds comparison site. The fact is that there isn’t a huge amount of variance in odds with basketball, but it can amount to a few points over a month. A number that can actually be quite significant with Value Basketball.
Now, adding to the ease with which you can do this, let’s talk about the bet types. Of some 1,800 bets placed over the last 14 months, over 1,500 of them have simply been a match winner. This means that finding those best odds is nice and easy. It also means that there are more bookies that will take those bets. In this regard, Value Basketball is much more appealing than some competing services.
With that said, as that number suggests, it does also mean quite a high volume of bets too. Whilst it all averages out at about 4 bets per day, the actual spread can be much more varied depending on what basketball is available. Because whilst you are mostly betting on European basketball, the numbers that Tipstrr provide show here that the tipster behind Value Basketball isn’t afraid to bet on some of the more obscure leagues.
In terms of staking, it is generally recommended that all bets are advised to level stakes. The proofing on Tipstrr shows “maximum stakes” of 10/10 points. But in real terms ,that should be viewed as simply 1 point on each bet. This does mean that Value Basketball doesn’t necessarily put your bank under too much strain.
With that said, I wouldn’t be to blasé about the drawdown potential here. Value Basketball is ultimately a value based service and whilst the odds are typically between 2 and 3, those are pretty significant outsiders by the terms of the bets placed. As such, losses can quickly add up with Tipstrr often showing drawdown getting in excess of 10 points.
Fortunately, all of this is ultimately tempered by an average strike rate of about 40%. Given that Value Basketball has been operational for as long as it has, that is a respectable number. Furthermore, I think that this applies doubly so when you look at the type of betting market employed and the sheer volume of bets placed.
How Does Value Basketball Work?
Whilst there is a lot about what Tipstrr do as a platform that is good, one of the things that categorically isn’t is that you don’t receive any real insight into how a tipster works. Sometimes the individual tipsters behind a service may provide insight through posts (in which they address things like performance or round up a week), but this is something that the tipster behind Value Basketball has chosen not to do.
This is of course somewhat problematic. Especially because Value Basketball is a tipster service that covers a very broad array of basketball betting. Leagues bet on range from Japan, to Columbia and even Iran (a country that I didn’t expect to have a basketball league). Furthermore, the performance across these leagues can also vary drastically. As such, it would be nice to have some understanding of what the approach is to some degree at least.
With that said, there are a few things that we can take away. First and foremost, there is that point that is right there in the name. Value Basketball is based around value to some degree. The odds more than adequately demonstrate this fact in my opinion. Whilst those 2.5 odds don’t seem like much, the fact is that with most sports that just have 2 outcomes, they are typically much lower. What is interesting however is how the tipster behind the service is actually finding that value.
Of course, this lack of actual insight is undoubtedly disappointing. But a lot can be said for how in depth and comprehensive Tipstrr are with their analysis. You can really break Value Basketball down to very detailed levels. Even things like which basketball leagues the tipster is least successful in. On top of that, there is full proofing (even if it isn’t in the most accessible way). As such, whilst you don’t get that understanding of how this works, you can at least get a good idea of what you’re getting yourself into.
What is the Initial Investment?
There are 3 different options if you are looking at subscribing to Value Basketball, each of which differ drastically in terms of the outlay and the value that they offer. The lowest cost option is a monthly subscription. This is priced at £29 per month and represents the worst value.
If you are looking for better value options, you can sign up on a quarterly basis at a cost of £73 per quarter. A 15% discount on the equivalent monthly cost. Alternatively, Tipstrr have a 6 monthly option for Value Basketball which is priced at £129 and represents a 25% saving on the equivalent monthly costs.
Unfortunately, there is no refund policy or money back guarantee in place for Value Basketball. This is something that is typical across the Tipstrr platform and is generally in line with most tipster services. As such, it isn’t something that counts too much against this, but it is a consideration.
What is the Rate of Return?
Over the last 12 months, Value Basketball has attained a very modest profit of 85.83 points. That isn’t a huge amount of money. Nor does the ROI necessarily look that much better at 5.6%. However you want to dress it up, those simply aren’t substantial profits at all. With that said, simply producing a profit can take a lot of skill. But all of that ignores some context that I want to talk about a bit in my conclusion.
Conclusion for Value Basketball
There are a few elements of Value Basketball that are almost immediately appealing to me. The fact that the service is as simple as it is is a massive boon. Compared to some basketball tipsters that I have looked at before, the one behind this has a very clear idea of what it is they want to do, and how they want to go about it.
This simplicity is passed on to us as punters in the form of simple tips that are easy to place, exploit the best odds, and generally get on with. Factor in that decent window of time to get bets on and things only start to look even better in terms of the user experience. But then we have to address the big downside of Value Basketball.
At the end of the day, the bottom line is the bottom line. And Value Basketball simply hasn’t made that much money. You’re looking at a monthly average of 7.15 points. If you’re backing this to £10 per bet, by the time you’ve paid your subs, you’re down to 4.25 points per month. Is it worth placing 120 bets, staking £1,200 for £42.50 back at the end of the month? The sort answer to that is no, in my opinion.
I’ll be honest and say that if I were looking at Value Basketball as a primary tipster service, there is little doubt what my thoughts would be. Those numbers simply aren’t good enough. There are a lot of ways you can try and dress up a low ROI and there are definitely some bettors out there who would be happy with those kinds of profits. I am not one of them though. Not when I know what else is out there.
With all of that said, let’s talk about that context. I have talked earlier about Value Basketball being used as part of a portfolio. That is where I think it has the potential to flourish. The fact is that if you’re betting on a serious level, you will reach a point where you have to explore more niche sports.
There are only so many tipster services and strategies that you can employ on the more popular betting markets before you’re betting against yourself or paying for the same advice twice. Basketball isn’t something that most people are already betting on. Now, if you’re building a portfolio, you’re a more serious bettor. As such, you’re likely to be betting at more than £10 a pop. So all of the numbers ultimately go up in real terms.
More than that though, if you see a portfolio that is producing 40 points profit a month, and you have an opportunity to increase that by 7 points as an average, that is quite a significant percentile increase. And because Value Basketball isn’t likely to trad on most of your betting. Well, the appeal is quite clear.
Looking at Value Basketball that way, I think it is one of the more appealing basketball tipster services I’ve looked at. Mostly because it is easy to get on with, and it wins relatively consistently. That is appealing as part of a portfolio. But I still don’t necessarily think that I would look to recommend this either.
Ultimately, there is a good tipster service in Value Basketball .The numbers that Tipstrr provide show that quite clearly. It’s just that the implementation of this isn’t something that will work for a lot of people.
