Weekend Speed Ratings Review

Weekend Speed Ratings is a horse racing tipster service from Paul Fowlie and offered through Sportsworld Publishing. The service provides only weekend selections.

What does the product offer?

Paul Fowlie has created Weekend Speed Ratings with a view to offering his insight into speed rating selections. As is stated in the name Weekend Speed Ratings is only for weekend races. Bets for Weekend Speed Ratings are advised on level stakes for win and place bets with the odds that you are backing being hugely varied. This has produced some solid results for January so far with a strike rate of just below 50% on 17 bets. That having been said 2014 was a much less flattering year.  As a bonus you also get access to bets that Paul Fowlie places on course which will typically produce 2-4 additional bets per week.

How does the product work?

Weekend Speed Ratings relies on Paul Fowlie’s speed ratings for horses in a given race. The method of finding speed ratings can differ from tipster to tipster and in the case of Weekend Speed Ratings, Paul Fowlie doesn’t go into his own selection method.

What is the initial investment?

At £20 per month Weekend Speed Ratings is relatively well priced for a tipster service. As is typical for this kind of product, there is however no money back guarantee.

What is the rate of return?

Sportsworld Publishing claim that Paul Fowlie made a profit of £6,700 though Weekend Speed Ratings since September 2014 however there are a few things to keep in mind about these figures. First of all is the fact that this figure is based on £100 stakes. Second is the fact that this also appears to include overcoming a deficit of over £3,500 at its highest.

Conclusion

Prior to turning around the service, Weekend Speed Ratings was definitely a liability. The fact that Paul Fowlie ended up 35 points in the red with an astonishing run of bad form. Since then the service has built itself up rather quickly and is now in a much better position which is down to an alleged change (according to Sportsworld Publishing). Whilst 2015 has had a strong start, personally I’d be inclined to see how Weekend Speed Ratings plays out for another month or so before buying.
